You have probably heard about porcelain veneers and the dramatic impact they can have on your smile. Maybe you have even considered them yourself but think that the process may be too complicated or costly. At Southside Dental Center, however, we want to make a beautiful smile accessible to everyone.
A porcelain veneer is a super-thin wafer of dental porcelain that is bonded to the front surface of your tooth to conceal imperfections. The porcelain used for veneers is very strong and, with proper care, can last ten years or more. We can place a veneer on just one tooth or on several teeth.
How Porcelain Veneers Work
Considering the dramatic difference they make to your smile, the process for placing porcelain veneers is pretty straightforward. The first step is to sit down with Dr. Abramowski for a complimentary consultation. He will explain the procedure, answer your questions, and talk to you about your concerns. This consultation is an essential part of the process; we find the best outcomes are achieved when you are fully involved with planning your treatment.
Once we decide that veneers are the right choice for you, we will schedule you for your first appointment. At that time, we will carefully shave away a very thin layer of dental enamel. We remove only as much as is needed to make sure that the veneer fits snugly and naturally against your gum line.
After preparation of your tooth, we’ll take impressions and send them to our trusted dental lab where your veneers are prepared. When your new veneers are finished, we will have you return to our Monticello dental office so you and Dr. Abramowski can check the veneers for fit and appearance. When we are both satisfied with the look of your new veneers, we will bond them securely to your tooth.
Porcelain Veneers Deliver Beautiful Results
Porcelain veneers are really an affordable cosmetic treatment when you consider the wide variety of dental imperfections they can fix in just a few visits:
- Alter the appearance of slightly crooked teeth
- Eliminate uneven gaps or spaces between teeth
- Conceal a severely discolored tooth that can’t be whitened professionally
- Correct the appearance of chips, cracks, and broken teeth
We place a lot of veneers and we are pleased to say that our patients are always thrilled with the results. During our consultation we may find that another choice is more appropriate or cost-effective for you. In any case, you can be sure we will guide you so you can make the decision that is best for you in every way.
