Dr. John Erlandson, DDS

Like father, like son. Dentistry is truly a family affair for Dr. John Erlandson. His father practiced dentistry for more than 38 years (34 in Monticello), his brother is a dentist and his sister is a dental hygienist. The senior Dr. Erlandson not only passed on a love for the profession but the importance of quality patient care and standing by your work.

John graduated from the University of Minnesota , School of Dentistry and is a member of both the American Dental Association and the Minnesota Dental Association.

He opened Southside Dental in 1988.

An outdoorsman at heart, John would prefer to treat patients from his fishing boat or the golf course. But rest assured, he sees patients at Southside Dental Center .

John is a Monticello native where he still lives along with his wife and four children. The family tradition of dentistry continues. His youngest son plans to enter dental school after college, and his wife Laurie is a dental hygienist at Southside Dental.

Laurie, Registered Dental Hygienist

Laurie brings 20 years of experience to her patients. Laurie graduated with degrees in dental hygiene and dental assisting from St. Cloud Technical College . Laurie's motto is “you only get one set of teeth” so be prepared for a gentle lecture on the importance of flossing!

Laurie has four children and divides her spare time between volunteering at school and church, spending time at the family cabin on Leech Lake or swinging the clubs at local golf courses. (Ask her about her hole-in-one.)

Kristi, Registered Dental Hygienist

If you know someone, who knows someone, chances are they know Kristi. Kristi enjoys making personal connections with her patients and has an uncanny ability to remember names and faces.

Kristi graduated with a degree in dental hygiene from St. Cloud Technical College and dental assisting from Hibbing Technical College . Kristi believes in the power of preventative care and keeps up-to-date on the latest dental procedures.

self-described “sports mom,” Kristi keeps active juggling her boys' baseball and basketball schedules.

Shelia, Registered Dental Assistant

Efficient, soft-spoken and comforting not only describes Shelia's personality but her approach to patient care. Shelia earned her dental assistant degree from Hennepin Technical College and has worked at Southside Dental for the past seven years.

Shelia has been a Monticello resident for 20 years where she lives with her husband and three teenage girls.

Sara, Office Assistant and Registered Dental Assistant

Chances are you’ll see Sara’s smiling face greeting you at the office front desk. A jack-of-all-trades, Sara spent two years as a dental assistant, four years as an orthodontic assistant and seven years in office administration.

Originally from International Falls, she now makes her home in Buffalo with her husband and two kids. When she’s not in the office, Sara enjoys spending time up North on the lake or somewhere South on the beach.

I grew up in Zimmerman. I was a home school student and graduated from Rivers Christian Academy in Elk River. I earned my degree in dental hygiene from St. Cloud Technical College. My husband and I recently bought our first home in Zimmerman. In my spare time, I enjoy being with family and friends, reading, watching old movies, baking, and traveling.
