Full & Partial Dentures

Are you tired of living with missing teeth or ill-fitting dentures? We know that you may resist the idea of dentures because you feel that they will look fake and compromise your appearance. However, at Southside Dental Center, we create beautiful dentures that look natural and feel great.

Why Missing Teeth Are a Problem

Obviously, when you have missing teeth you are not thrilled about the gaps in your smile. Aside from the impact on your appearance, however, there are other problems that can result from the loss of teeth. For example:

  • Problems with chewing certain types of foods
  • Difficulty speaking properly
  • Movement of adjacent teeth
  • Breakdown of jaw structure
  • Change in facial appearance and structure

Modern, State-of-the-Art Dentures

There are two types of dentures – full and partial. Both are removable dental prosthetics that take the place of missing teeth. We use partials when just a few teeth are missing and complete dentures when you’re missing all your teeth.

The biggest concern for most patients is the fit and comfort of their new dentures. Years ago, materials available for dentures were limited. This resulted in dentures that were functional but not necessarily attractive or comfortable.

However, advances in technology and materials have completely changed the way dentures look and feel. Dr. Abramowski crafts dentures using a softer, flexible polymer instead of traditional rigid metal. Our comfortable dentures won’t irritate sensitive tissue or dig into your gums.

The Dentures Process

Before we begin planning for your new dentures, Dr. Abramowski will perform a thorough evaluation of the condition of your teeth. Next, he will take the time to sit with you and learn more about what you expect from dentures. It’s important for you to be a part of the process every step of the way. You’ll have a say in the look of your dentures, customizing them so that they complement the shape of your face and your skin tone.

Our dentures are carefully crafted at a special lab by highly experienced technicians. State-of-the-art technology and materials create dentures that look, fit, and feel as close to natural teeth as possible. The denture consists of a base of dental resin that is shaded to closely match your natural gum tissue. Each artificial tooth is placed separately in the base, allowing for variations that occur with natural teeth.

Adding Stability with Dental Implants

The most common complaint we hear is that dentures shift and slip, leading to irritation and embarrassing situations. If you are concerned that your dentures will not stay in place, we will be happy to talk to you about the possibility of using dental implants to secure your new denture in place.

The denture is designed to snap onto dental implants placed at strategic points along the jaw. The implants will stabilize the denture and remain securely in place while eating, talking, and chewing.
