Crowns & Bridges

It is hard to believe how just one damaged or missing tooth can affect your life. Your favorite foods may become more difficult or impossible to eat, and your speech may also be affected. You may find yourself hiding your smile when talking with others, and your self-confidence takes a nosedive.

At Southside Dental Center, we understand the frustration you face when you have damaged teeth. You deserve a healthy smile you can be proud to show off, and we offer options that help you do just that.

Dental Crowns Restore Unhealthy Teeth

Porcelain crowns are an effective, time-tested solution for resolving major dental problems caused by accidents, disease, or routine wear and tear. If you have older fillings on front teeth, you may find that they cause esthetic problems like discoloration. They can also weaken the tooth, causing chipping or breaking. For teeth that have had root canal treatment, a durable dental crown can protect the tooth from further damage.

Dental crowns have several benefits. Using them, we can:

  • Offer protection for teeth damaged by disease, trauma, or decay
  • Replace a missing tooth (dental implant restoration)
  • Fix esthetic and functional problems

At Southside Dental Center we use only natural-looking porcelain crowns. Metal-lined crowns are effective, but over time a thin dark line appears near your gums that is noticeable and unattractive. Porcelain crowns are just as durable and we can create them to blend perfectly with your natural teeth.

Replace Missing Teeth with Fixed Bridges

A fixed dental bridge is a restoration that includes an artificial tooth used to fill the empty space left after a natural tooth is lost. It is designed as a single unit fitted with an artificial tooth that’s held securely in place by crowns that attach to adjacent teeth. In certain cases, Dr. Abramowski may recommend a dental implant to provide greater stability for the bridge.

The process for placing a bridge is similar to that of a crown. We prepare the teeth, take impressions, then send the impressions and images to a top dental lab where your restoration is custom-crafted. At your next visit, we will adjust the bridge as necessary to ensure a perfect fit and a fully functioning tooth.
